Southern Street Railroad Fence Decision

Norfolk Southern Railroad has finally gotten in touch with me regarding the fence of Southern St. It seems that the fence is located 52+ feet from the centerline of the track, and the railway only has a right of way of 50 feet from the center of the track. This decision means that the city has no obstacles in repairing, replacing, or removing the fence.
As many residents voted in the poll to remove the fence, it seems that the city now has the right (and the responsibility in my opinion) to remove the eyesore sections of rusted poles, and the dangerous sections of loose fencing. I hope that this will put this issue to rest and we can get on with the business of restoring the East Village!
